Vs Game [Rock Band]

Choose two artists from a Rock Band and put them up head to head. The next poster will choose the winner and put two more artists up against each other.
Rules are that both artists have to be part of a Rock Band and that both artists have to be of the same instrument (Ex. guitarist v guitarist, vocalist v vocalist).
If you don't know an artist, don't post that you don't know them and actually look them up since in the end thats what these games are all about, broadening your music knowledge.

Ronnie James Dio (Been in Black Sabbath, Dio, currently deceased) vs Ozzy Osbourne (Black Sabbath and a few solo works)

Ronnie James - Both did amazing work for Black Sabbath, but Dio's work both with Rainbow as well as his solo career tops it for me.
Dio also had the ability to write awesome lyrics which Ozzy could never do.

Anyway, I personally choose Lombardo simply because he holds some of Slayers best albums under his belt, while on the other hand Drover is just following the footsteps of other drummers Megadeth has had such as Gar Samuelson who was quality.

Kirk Hammet (Metallica) Vs Dave Mustaine (Megadeth)

Dave - He helped put Metallica on the map and pretty much wrote half (at least) of all guitar parts in Kill 'Em All, which in my honest opinion is one of Metallica's best albums. When he got replaced in Metallica his own band (Megadeth) has easily matched anything Metallica have released over the years.

K.K. Downing (Judas Priest) Vs Robbin Crosby (RATT)

Kenneth: He's one of the founders of Judas Priest (which I consider one of the best metal bands ever), he has written many songs there, and he was one of my influences when I decided to play the guitar. His aggresive solos and dual leads with Glenn Tipton were just epic. TBH I don't know what he's doing now, since he left Judas Priest in 2011.

Jim Schumacher (Brocas Helm) Vs Chaz Grimaldi (Grim Reaper)

I'll go with Jim Schumacher based on the fact that he's been with Brocas Helm since the beginning while on the other hand Grimaldi hasn't really done anything big time with Grim Reaper since joining. In other words Schumacher has been a lot more significant in his bands history.

Rudolf Schenker (Scorpions) Vs Michael Schenker (MSG)

It was a hard decision, but I'll choose Rudolf. I really don't have any reasons except that is for personal taste, I just prefer Scorpions than MSG.

Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) Vs Rob Halford (Judas Priest)

A very tough call, but I'll go Rob Halford this time. In my honest opinion I prefer his vocals though Bruce's vocals are awesome as well and by far Iron Maiden's best frontman. I'm going with Rob for a few other reasons as well, one of them being that he's been with Priest since the early 70s when metal was just coming around, and he kind of helped develop the genre and its vocal style. Another reason is that without Halford up front Priest didn't have the same attitude and feel and failed to produce anything worthwhile, which proved how important he is to the lineup; I'm glad he returned to the band.

Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge) Vs Aaron Buchanan (Heaven's Basement)

I have to say that I'm not exactly a fan of Myles Kennedy's voice, I'm not a fan of AB either, but he truly has an impressive vocal range, making it some times hard to believe it's the same person singing a whole song with parts where he sounds so different.

Steve Vai Vs Joe Satriani

This is a close battle for sure, since both are exceptionally good but I'm going to say Satriani since he was actually teaching Vai at one point early on in his career.

Dimebag Darrell Vs Zakk Wylde

Diamond Darrell. I've never really personally liked Zakk much, since (naturally) I compare him to Ozzy's other guitarists such as Randy and Jake and I don't think he was as good as either of them. Don't get me wrong Zakk is metal as f**k, but Darrell changed everything with what was going on in the metal scene at the time with Pantera, and also played a huge part in the band itself changing them from an average glam metal band to one of the best known groove metal bands of all time.

Frankie Banali (Quiet Riot) Vs Tommy Lee (Mötley Crüe)

Tommy Lee. Just my opinion, can't really explain why, just find his drumming as a part of Motley Crue better.

Amy Lee wins, and I'll tell you why. Believe it or believe it not, Amy has had a more successful career as a musician, having made more than several albums and winning countless awards and nominations over the years in Evanescence. Sandi Saraya only really had one real successful album back in '89 with Saraya's debut album but ever since her career slumped into nothingness.
